Meet Our Team

Dr. Sausan Campbell is board certified in Internal Medicine, having attended Tufts Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine in 2001 at The New England Medical Center. While in medical school, her exposure to patients in a cardiac clinic allowed her to witness firsthand the impact of diet and lifestyle changes on patient health, and she immediately felt led to pursue a career in Internal Medicine.

After completing her residency, she was employed with East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, a community-based primary care clinic serving a diverse population in greater Boston. While there, she helped develop a successful diabetes education program to provide preventative education and increase medication compliance.

After marrying her husband Greg, also a physician, and having their firstborn, Dr. Campbell moved in 2008 to Asheville, where she worked in Three Streams Christian Ministry delivering primary care to the indigent in the area. She later joined Advent Health in Hendersonville, practicing outpatient primary care for the last 13 years.

Dr. Campbell believes in the power of lifestyle change and prevention and is enthusiastic about meeting patients in different stages of their health care journey. She values long-term relationships with her patients and colleagues and is excited to provide personalized, attentive care that allows for deeper connection, thoughtful prevention, and a more comprehensive approach to each patient's overall well-being.

She lives in Arden with her husband, two children, and dog Pepper. When not in the clinic you will find her either playing the piano or violin, trying a new sourdough bread recipe, or outside on a long dog walk or hike. Fun fact — Dr. Campbell is fluent in 3 languages: English, Arabic, and Bulgarian!

Dr. Eric Byrd is a board-certified internal medicine physician committed to providing thoughtful, compassionate, and comprehensive primary care for adult patients. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Missouri, graduating cum laude.

He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Kentucky, where he served as Chief Resident and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in recognition of his academic achievement, leadership, and dedication to patient care.

Since relocating to Hendersonville in 2001, Dr. Byrd has been in private practice, developing longstanding relationships with his patients and caring for generations within the community. In addition to his outpatient practice, he also served as a Hospitalist at Pardee Hospital, maintaining involvement in both inpatient and outpatient medicine.

Dr. Byrd has a strong passion for medical education and has taught medical students throughout his career, receiving multiple awards for excellence in teaching and mentorship. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, and participating in medical mission trips to Latin America and Haiti, where he provides care to underserved communities.
